Code of Conduct for Teen Minds Matter Welcome to Teen Minds Matter, a community dedicated to providing mental health advice and support to kids and teens. By accessing, volunteering for or using our platform, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and our Terms of Service. Age Requirements Users must be at least 10 years old and no older than 19 to access and use the platform. Users between the ages of 10 and 17 must have parental consent to use the platform. Privacy and Confidentiality We take user privacy seriously and comply with all relevant privacy laws, including COPPA and GDPR. We collect and store only the necessary information to provide our services, and we will never sell or share user data with third parties without explicit consent unless the user poses immediate danger. All conversations between users and ambassadors are confidential, except in cases where there is a legal obligation to report, such as suspected child abuse or imminent danger to self or others. Scope of Service Our platform provides general mental health advice, support, and a safe space for kids and teens to discuss their concerns. Ambassadors are not licensed mental health professionals and cannot diagnose, treat, or prescribe medication for mental health conditions. If a user requires professional help, ambassadors will guide them to appropriate resources and encourage them to seek assistance from qualified mental health providers. Ambassador Qualifications and Training All ambassadors have to be 13-18 years old and undergo a thorough background check and screening process. Ambassadors will receive training on active listening, empathy, crisis management, and recognizing when to refer users to professional help. Ambassadors are required to complete ongoing training and education to stay informed about mental health topics and best practices. Communication Guidelines Ambassadors and users must treat each other with respect, kindness, and empathy. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or any form of abusive behavior will not be tolerated. Ambassadors must maintain appropriate boundaries and not share personal contact information, engage in offline meetings, or form personal relationships with users. Reporting and Moderation Users can report inappropriate content, behavior, or concerns through the platform’s built-in reporting system. All reports will be promptly reviewed and addressed by our moderation team. Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in consequences such as warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans from the platform. Emergency Situations If a user expresses suicidal thoughts, self-harm intentions, or reports abuse, ambassadors will provide crisis resources and encourage the user to seek immediate professional help. In cases of imminent danger, ambassadors may be obligated to report the situation to relevant authorities to ensure the user’s safety. Parental Consent and Involvement Users under the age of 18 must have parental consent to use the platform. We encourage parents to be actively involved in their child’s use of the platform and to maintain open communication about their online activities. Parents can contact our support team with any questions or concerns regarding their child’s use of the platform. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability The advice and support provided on this platform are for informational purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Users are responsible for their own decisions and actions, and the platform and its ambassadors are not liable for any consequences arising from the use of the information provided. Updates and Changes We reserve the right to update and modify this Code of Conduct and our Terms of Service as needed. Users will be notified of any changes through the platform and will be required to accept the updated terms to continue using the service. By using Teen Minds Matter, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by this Code of Conduct.
